OUR EXTRACURRICULARS PREPARE STUDENTS FOR THE FUTURE

It’s often the first question people have about online education; how do kids socialize? Will they have interactions with their teachers and classmates? 

At Oregon Charter Academy, we work hard to ensure that kids have plenty of opportunities to socialize and have fun. In addition to meeting other students during Live Classes and talking to them online in class discussions, there are many activities available for students to socialize and have fun.

Field Days

Every year, we host two all-school field day events: Open House and Spring Celebration. The Open House typically has a Scholastic book fair and booths for each grade level team or subject area so families can meet their teachers. The Spring Celebration is a celebration for the end of the year, when we host carnival-style games, arts and crafts and other activities, like photo booths, face painting and a bouncy house.

Prom and Graduation

Many high school students are concerned about missing out on classic high school experiences like prom and graduation, but at ORCA, they still have those opportunities! We host in-person prom events every year, open to high school students, and there is an in-person graduation ceremony for each class of graduating high school seniors.

Clubs

At ORCA, there are over 30 clubs that students can choose from, including Gamer’s Lounge, Craft and Chat Club, NASA, and more! Clubs are optional, open to all students, and free to join. They meet regularly online and occasionally plan field trips and meet ups. Don’t see a club that fits your interests? Students can start new clubs with just a short application! Field Trips

Field trips at ORCA provide a great way for students and teachers to make connections in educational settings throughout Oregon. Labs at OMSI, a hike at Susan Creek Falls, college campus tours, Cranberry Bog farm tour, Shanghai Tunnel tour, and the Pendleton Woolen Mill are just some of the experiences we offer.
